João de Nóbrega Pupo is deeply invested in expanding the field of conscious listening, both as a practice and as a form of awareness, while also engaging with the onto-epistemological questions surrounding sound. This intention is consistently present in his artistic practice, and he continually challenges himself to broaden his knowledge in order to refine and expand his body of research on the subject.
Since completing his Master’s degree in Sound Arts at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Barcelona, he has been actively involved in organizing and facilitating a range of activities dedicated to listening awareness, including lectures, workshops, and soundwalks in both private and public institutions, as well as at music festivals. In recent years, he has also been publishing literature related to sound studies across various platforms, and more recently on a regular basis through his Substack. Below you will find a selection of articles and essays drawn from both his Substack and other sources.
